Chimi Lhakhang or Chime Lhakhang or Monastery is a Buddhist monastery in Punakha District of Bhutan located near Lobesa. It stands on a round hillock and built in 1499 by the 14th Drukpa Hierarch – Ngawang Choegyel after the site was blessed by the Divine Madman or the Maverick Saint Drukpa Kunley who built a Chorten on the site. It is one of the ancient and most beautiful attractions in Bhutan to explore that will take you to ancient time and provide you the amazing view of this architectural wonder. Looks very beautiful from a height, the beautiful Tashichhodzong or Tashichho Dzongi a Buddhist monastery and fortress on the northern edge of the city of Thimpu in Bhutan on the western bank of the Wang Chu. It has been the seat of Druk Desi or Dharma Raja – the head of Bhutan’s Civil Government. It is an office that has been combined with the kingship since the creation of the monarchy in 1907 – the summer capital of the country. Rinpung Dzong is a large Dzong-Buddhist Monastery and fortress of the Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu School in Paro District of Bhutan. It is known for housing the district monastic body and government administrative offices of Par Dzongkhag. It is in the tentative list of UNESCO inclusions. Natural view in the surrounding area is wonderful; while the monastery has fourteen shrines and chapels. On the hill above Rinpung Dzong is a seven-storied the watchtower fortress or Ta Dzong built in the year of 1649. It, in the year of 1968, was established as the home of the National Museum of Bhutan.

Day 01: Paro Airport – Thimphu (65 kms / 2 hrs)

After your arrival at Paro Airport, you will reach Thimphu – the capital city of Bhutan.

Day 02: Thimphu Sightseeing
The day is reserved for the full day to visit Thimphu – the capital of Bhutan and a home of Royal Family. You will visit Tashichhodzong (the main secretarial building), view of Thimphu Valley from BBS Tower, National Memorial Chorten, Chang Gangkha Monastery, National Zoo and National Library.

Day 03: Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdue Sightseeing (77 kms / 3 hrs)
You will be reaching Punakha/Wangdue Phodrang along with getting a chance to visit Chimi Lhakhang. You will also see Punakha Dzong.

Day 04: Punakha – Paro (140 kms / 5 hrs)
The day will start to visit Dzong followed by a visit to Rinpung Dzong. Kichu Lhakhang – the oldest temple in the country, Drugyal Dzong or Bhutan Victory Fort, Mount Jumolhari, etc, are in your tour plan for this day.

Day 05: Paro Sightseeing

Day 06: Paro Airport

Day 01: Hashmira Rly Station – Phuentsholing (18 kms / 1/2 hrs)

After your arrival at Hashmira Railway Station, you will be transferred to Phuentsholing – Entry point from India to Bhutan. Overnight in Jaigaon or Phuentsholing!

Day 02: Phuentsholing – Thimphu (176 kms / 6 hr)

The day is reserved for travelling to Thimphu – the capital city of Bhutan. Stay here and you are free for enjoy on your own in evening.

Day 03: Thimphu Sightseeing

The day is wonderful in the capital of Bhutan where you will visit Tashichhodzong – housing the throne room of His Majesty – the King. Thimphu Valley from BBS Tower, National Memorial Chorten, Chang Gangkha Monastery, National Zoo, National Library and Buddha Point are in your tour plan to explore in Thimpu.

Day 04: Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdue Sightseeing (77 kms / 3 hrs)

The day will start with your journey to Punakha/Wangdue Phodrang via Dochu-La-Pass. You will also visit Chimi Lhakhang – the temple of Fertility built in 15th Century. Don’t miss to visit Punakha Dzong.

Day 05: Punakha – Paro (140 kms / 5 hrs)

You will visit Ta Dzong – a national museum, and walk down the trail to visit the Rinpung Dzong – fortress of the heap of jewels. Kichu Lhakhang – the oldest temple in the country, Drugyal Dzong or Bhutan Victory Fort, etc are other attractions. Don’t miss to see Jumolhari (if day is clear). Bhutan:How To Get There

By Air:

Paro International Airport is the only option to reach Bhutan by air. However, you can also reach Bagdogra in India and then cover onward journey by road to Jaigaon/Phuentsholing. From airport, you can take taxis or buses to cover your rest of the journey. We also arrange pick and drop from airport in package or as per your request.

By Rail:

Bhutan doesn’t have any railway station as they are in India named New Jalpaiguri and Hasiara on Kolkata and Siliguri Line. You can take a taxi or bus from these airports to border and them a bus or taxi for onward journey. We also offer pick and drop as per your requirement from railway station.

By Road:

There are total three land border crossing located along southern border to India only. No border is open along the Chinese northern border. Road permits are also required. Internal road connectivity is better to reach the main attractions by car.

The Losar Festival

Date – February 9–11, 2016.
Destination – Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal
Losar, New Year in Tibetan language, is an important holiday in Tibet, Bhutan and in Nepal as well as in India for certain ethnic groups. Before the Tibetan New Year – Nyi Shu Gu is celebrated on the eve of last night of the year. Losar Festival is celebrated for 15 days with the main celebration on the first three days. The festival begins with the making of beverage called as changkol from chhaang – a Tibetan cousin beer. The second day of festival is known as the King’s Losar. People prefer to wear traditional clothes, dance, sing and participate in different cultural activities.
